The accidental expatriate blogger behind Dusk Harbor Link

Hi there, I'm James
I’m a project manager, a parent, and an expatriate based in London, United Kingdom.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to United Kingdom wasn’t part of the long-range plan. Like many expatriate relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The opening months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more complicated than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was cultural shock, uncertainty, and lots of learning by doing. Yet, gradually, routines started to take shape. We found places that suited us, met other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Dusk Harbor Link
Most information available online was either corporate relocation advice or tourism material at surface level. What was missing was a candid, everyday family perspective.
This site exists to fill that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in United Kingdom.
What This Site Does (And Doesn't)
This site IS:
- Hands-on experience from living in United Kingdom
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever a meaningful change occurs
This site ISN'T:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
We will continue our time in United Kingdom and keep learning. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in London or anywhere in United Kingdom, don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
James
